Public seminar: Inequality and the Biosphere
Welcome to a public seminar on the intertwined nature of inequality and the biosphere! The purpose of this seminar is to share insights into ongoing research, cutting-edge talks, and different perspectives on the topic – to discuss and inspire an understanding of inequality as more than a socio-economic issue, and entangled with the climate and ecological crises we face.

The seminar features a welcome note by Carl Folke (Director, Beijer Institute) followed by an introduction to the topic by Maike Hamann (Senior lecturer, University of Exeter). Project members will then present a series of lightning talks, followed by a keynote address by Lucas Chancel (Associate Professor at Sciences Po and Co-Director of the World Inequality Lab, Paris School of Economics),
joining us online.
The event will conclude with a panel discussion featuring Lucas Chancel, Anna
Jöborn (Chief Executive Officer, Mistra), and project members. Moderator Tracie Curry (Northern Social-Environmental Research).
The seminar is organised by the ‘Inequality and the Biosphere’ project (funded by Formas), in collaboration with the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics and the Stockholm Resilience Centre at Stockholm University.
