Programme director, Associate professor

Max Troell

My main research focus is on the role of seafood for our future food portfolio and  the role of aquaculture in particular. I am the programme director for the Aquaculture and Sustainable Seafood Programme.

I have a background in systems and marine ecology and have worked with a broad range of sustainability and governance issues related to social-ecological systems – with special emphasis on coastal and marine ecosystems. Much focus been on resource sustainability and environmental performance and a strong focus on identification of linkages between fisheries and aquaculture, between ocean and land, including how ecosystem goods and services are shared and/or competed for, and its implication for equity and poverty.
